Review: Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose Eau de Parfum

Firstly I have to say that I love the bottle; a gorgeous purple, with a flower around the neck. It's dark, yet classy and feminine.
It looks gorgeous on my dressing table.

Straight away it smells quite strongly of dark berries, blackcurrant mostly. I usually go for a light floral scent, and so I didn't think it was for me at first, but during the day it settles into a sweet floral (slightly musky) scent, yet not too sickly sweet, which is lovely.
As with the Avon perfume I reviewed, it reminds me of perfume my nan and aunts wore when I was a kid, which could be one main reason why I like it.
Personally I wouldn't wear this as an everyday perfume, it's perfect for a night out though and special occasions.
I have the 30ml, which is £34 on Boots.com. The 50ml is £45. Which I think is reasonably priced.
I was sent this to review by Boots.com, as part of their customer review panel.

Review: Avon Nailwear Pro + Rare Gold Eau de Parfum Spray

It was my birthday recently, and I was sent a voucher in an e-mail from Avon, saying that I would receive a free 'Rare Gold Eau de Parfum Spray' with any online order. Doesn't every girl love perfume? And as it was free I had to get it. I ordered an Avon Nailwear Pro in 'Blue Shock' for just £3.50 so it was a bargain.

The Rare Gold Eau de Parfum retails at £13.
I like it, probably because it reminds me of perfume my nan wore, and so it gives me a bit of a nostalgic feeling. It is a bit strong for me, but it gets lighter during the day, and it lasts all day which is great.
It comes in a black box with gold writing, which is quite simple and not very feminine. If I saw it in a store I would assume it was a men's aftershave.
The bottle is ok, it's gold and quite girly and looks pretty on my dressing table. It's nothing special though.

I have a Love/Hate relationship with the Avon Nailwear Pro (Blue Shock) polish.
I absolutely adore the colour, I have a lot of blues in my collection, but this colour has to be one of my new favourites. It's a gorgeous medium electric blue, with a light blue/turquoise shimmer through it, in some lights it looks a bit purple too. It's actually a bit darker than it looks in these pictures.

The colour is the only thing I like about this nail polish. It's very thin and doesn't go on evenly, I had to apply four coats to get it opaque, and it actually looks like it could do with another coat. I also don't like the smell of the polish, it's a very strong chemical smell. I have a lot of nail polishes from many different brands and none of them smell as bad as this one. It was only £3.50, but if it had been more expensive I would have probably sent it back.  I've actually bought nail polishes for around £1 (Beautyuk from Superdrug) which were better quality.

I have to say I wasn't very impressed with Avon, it's my second time ordering from them online. The first time, my order came in about a week, this time it took about a week and a half, and for a £3.50 delivery charge I'd expect it to arrive much quicker than it did. Especially as I ordered from Next on the same day and paid £3.99 for 'next day delivery', that order arrived in less than 24 hours.

Barry M's 'Nail Effects' polish

Last summer while shopping in my local Superdrug I saw that Barry M had a black crackle effect nail polish, I hadn't seen any adverts about it, but I thought it looked great and I had to pick it up. I loved it, but only wore it a handful of times, and hadn't noticed it in the stores since.
A couple of months ago a lot of other popular nail brands brought out crackle effect polishes and so I decided to dig out my Barry M one, but unfortunately it had completely dried up. So I went to Superdrug (I go there too much!) and bought their Nail Effects polish in black and blue, £3.99 each. (They also have it in pink and white) I've only worn the blue one once, (over a silver polish) but the black has been on my nails (almost) constantly since I got it, on my fingers and toes. My favourite colour to wear underneath is Rimmel's new-ish polish 'Aqua Cool' a gorgeous medium powder blue.

Just paint one thin layer over (completely) dry nail polish, and watch it crackle, it gives an awesome effect and I have had a lot of people compliment me on my nails, and ask how I did it.
One thing to note is that the product inside the bottle will dry up quickly, so I make sure that I apply the polish quite quickly.

Edit: (24/9/11)
My nail effects polish has since dried up, and I'm not able to use it at all. Which is a little disappointing.
I haven't tried any of the more expensive ones like OPI or nails inc so I can't comment on them. But if they dry up quickly too, then I would certainly recommend to go for a cheaper version like Barry M.
